Electus UAT Bug Reporter — Privacy Policy

This Chrome extension ("the extension") is an internal tool provided by Jaycar Electronics Group for staff and authorised testers to submit bug reports during User Acceptance Testing of the Electus website.

What the extension accesses

When a tester opens the extension and submits a bug report — and only then — it collects:

  • A full-page screenshot of the Electus UAT page being tested
  • The page URL, title, and the list of pages visited in that browser tab during the session
  • Browser and device details: user-agent, operating system, language, timezone, and screen and viewport size
  • Console messages and failed network-request metadata (method, URL, status) from the page
  • The information the tester types into the form: summary, issue type, steps, expected and actual results, and an optional name

How the information is used

The information is used solely to create a bug ticket, with the above attached as context, in the organisation's own Jira Cloud instance, so that developers can understand and reproduce reported issues.

Where the information goes

The information is sent only to the organisation's Jira Cloud instance (jaycar.atlassian.net) over an encrypted HTTPS connection. It is not sent to the extension's developers and is not shared with, sold to, or transferred to any other third party. The extension uses no analytics or tracking.

Authentication

The extension files tickets using the tester's existing logged-in Atlassian session. It does not collect or store passwords or API tokens.

Data storage

The extension stores only its non-secret configuration and an in-progress draft of the current form on the user's device via Chrome storage; the draft is cleared when a report is submitted. The in-tab navigation trail is held in the page's session storage and cleared when the tab is closed. The extension has no server or database of its own. Submitted reports reside in Jira and are subject to the organisation's Jira data-retention and access policies.

Scope

The extension operates only on the Electus sites: the dev, uat, shop, prod, and www hosts on electusdistribution.com.au and electusdistribution.co.nz, plus jeg-staging.frontend.site.
